Pack out was yesterday….and we survived although it ended up taking A LOT longer than it should have (seriously, we don’t have that much stuff here!). We also learned that we acquired about 1000 lbs of stuff during our relatively short time in DC – that’s not too surprising considering how much shopping we have been doing for heavy household items like a new mattress, a TV, and some new kitchenware and the fact that we have a growing child who seems to constantly need new clothes.
We are now living out of our suitcases for about 2 months or so until our air shipment makes its way to Sao Paulo – as mentioned previously, we were not able to pack Luca’s toys for this shipment due to customs regulations in Brazil so we are taking some of Luca’s toys with us on the plane….luckily, we were able to pack more toys than I had thought (including the lion walker in the picture!) but it was a bit sad to have one last playdate with friends the day before pack out to play with his toys for the last time for a while!
Luca is now pretty good on his feet (he’s been walking up and down our long hallway in our apartment building with the help of the lion) although he still hasn’t quite figured out how to get himself up to standing. And, while he has figured out how to crawl, he still prefers to roll and scoot around on the floor…
He’s also LOVING food (yes, he’s definitely John’s son)… he now pretty much eats whatever we’re eating and meal times have become so much more fun. When he likes a food a lot, he does a little “happy dance” which involves giggling and flapping his arms up and down while grunting – very cute! (Favorites so far include banana, kiwi, yoghurt, lasagna, any Asian dish, tofu, and peas)
Not much more to report other than we’re ready to go! Here’s to hoping that there are no major problems with our flights and that all of our luggage will make it….yeah, not so sure about that last one….
