Fruit market

Last week I went to our neighborhood fruit and veggie market and was immediately sold on returning every week until we leave…..yes, that was a R$19 (~US11) well spent on local fruits and vegetables…..ah, can’t wait for that blender to arrive to make yummy juices!

  1. oh, how wonderful! I'm surprised to see broccoli there, a cold weather crop! Is everything grown there? What are the green prickly things in the plastic bag? This is definitely one of my FS fantasies….enjoy!

  2. Yes, broccoli and cauliflower are here and it seems that everything is grown locally. I have to admit that I bought the green, prickly things (as they will be known as from now on since I don't know what they are!) because I had no idea what they were and was curious to try something new [my new rule is to come home from the weekly market with a new surprise fruit or veggie every week]. It turns out that they are a type of cucumber – very good, but not at all what I expected!!!

  3. oh, that's funny, I would definitely have thought they were a fruit! So I take it you don't have any household help yet to guide you on new foods. Do you plan to hire someone?

  4. Oh WOW!! Love seeing all the available, fresh produce! That's our #1 thing for bidding: we're hoping for a place with lots of available, fresh produce all year round. Hope that all is as yummy as it looks!
