Back in the USA…. a Home Leave Recap

Yes, we are still alive and yes, it’s been over a month since I last blogged. Not that I didn’t have intentions to share our adventures as we were hitting the road during home leave, but I honestly didn’t have the time… so, here it goes – our long and eagerly awaited home leave recap.

Rather than dwell on end about how much fun we had visiting family, meeting new family additions, lounging at the pool and beach, eating lots of yummy food that was dearly missed (hello feta cheese, tex/mex, and affordable and good wine – it’s a pleasure to see you all again!), enjoying kid-free time (thank you Grand-parents!), fighting with kids to ensure they sleep at least a fraction of the time, eating more candy and chocolate cake in one month than some of our family members have eaten in their entire lifetime, and just reiterating for the nth time how much fun we had, I thought I should keep it simple and let the pictures do the talking….Ready? Good, let’s get to it!

There were….

…LOTS of chocolate cakes, birthday parties, and more cakes waiting to be eaten…

…which led to extremely happy kids until the sugar high wore off…

We experimented with new looks… (hello TX buzz cut)

Some of us put on a show…

We tried new foods..

Some of us fell in love with chocolate-covered pretzels (with sprinkles of course!)…

We searched high and low for those hidden eggs …

We made new friends…

We learned that we now have 2 kids obsessed with trains…

Some of us came close to some pretty cool animals…

We played on the beach…

…and finally… we learned a lot about those darn pink falingos (flamingos according to Luca) that never quite left us alone…

…and just kept reappearing everywhere…

…and there you have it. One month in pictures, more or less. Thanks to our families for housing us as we roamed homeless throughout the US – let’s see what DC now holds of us! Happy spring time!
