10 people – 3 capital cities – 1 week … or how to have a blast in Central Europe

Last week, our dear, dear friends whom we met many, many years ago (as in those early grad school days way before marriage, kids, moves to suburbs and away from NYC) came to visit with their kids and a set of parents (hello Mr. & Mrs. “Ing”!).

Our friends and us are no strangers to traveling together having spent some time  exploring Italy, France, and Southeast Asia  (which reminds me – I need to locate those movie documentaries of said trips in which there may have been some singing and dancing in the streets of Paris and fierce debates on whether to visit a military museum).

Now with a few more bodies to add to the traveling equation, we set out to walk as much as anyone possibly can around Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest (sorry, Mr. “Ing” – we hope you’ll get some rest and relaxation now at home!). To be fair, we rounded out the trip with plenty of schnitzel, goulash, and beer….and perhaps a glass of wine or two.

We had a super fun time that ended much too soon although I am sure that four little people will appreciate the chance of catching up on much needed sleep!
