Where’s the sun?

On Sunday, something strange happened in the land of the blue sky and endless sun – the sun disappeared. Here we were, spoiled from weeks on end of endless (strong) sunshine when all of a sudden, it turned cold(ish) and the sun was replaced with dust.

No it wasn’t quite cold enough to break into the winter gear although a certain someone was ready for that …

That, my friend, is a Mongolian coat filled with sheep fur - so warm and cozy and no, we did not buy it (yet)

…but a jacket or sweatshirt suddenly seemed like a good idea.

So without sun and the temperatures down, what is a family to do on another weekend day?

Did you say death march? Well, yes, that’s exactly what we did – we set on foot to the “new” National Park. It’s so new, in fact, that it’s not indicated on my UB map – apparently it just got built less than a year ago and it’s still a bit of a work in progress.

Well, there is no shortage of opportunities for exercising, that’s for sure.

And after running around (to warm up?) and spending our afternoon there, we celebrated with a well-deserved cold treat….

park3… well two of us; John and I opted for the warmer coffee option but who was to deny the kids their last ice cream this Mongolian “summer?”

No one. Including ice cream for the kid with food sensitivities. Did I mention we’re starting to try and reintroduce some “off limit” food? Let’s see how this will play out…now excuse me while I dig out my winter gear.
